Digging for change to feed the parking meter will soon become a thing of the past!
You've probably noticed changes to metered parking in Indianapolis. As new technology is installed, rates will be adjusted.
Upcoming Changes:
On March 28, 2011, rates for credit card accepting
parking meters in the Downtown area, Mass. Avenue, and in Broad
Ripple will be $1 per hour. The days and hours of operation for
those meters will be expanded on that day too. The new days and
hours of operation will be Monday through Saturday, 7 AM to 9
PM.
During the Summer and Fall of 2011, we will begin to beautify Indianapolis by removing a majority of the single space meters and replacing them with multi-space pay boxes. In areas where single space meters will remain, we will take the best looking single space housings and use them to replace older, rusted meters. Except in residential areas, rates will be adjusted to $1 per hour as new technology is implemented.
